On Christmas Eve, we completed our first overnight trek of the season just outside Bariloche, Argentina.
Short but beautiful, the trek to Refugio Frey passed through quiet forests and boasted scenic views of the surrounding lakes. We arrived at the refugio close to dinner, just in time for homemade empanadas and red wine with travelers and locals alike. We spent Christmas day hiking back down the mountain and feasting on our favorite cuisine, Mexican food. With somewhat decent wi-fi, we were able call and video chat family.
We are now in small town El Bolsón, Argentina - known for its craft beer, organic everything, and fantastic hikes. This may very well be my favorite city ever with its garden yoga classes, fresh cheese, and snowy peaks. It's like a baby Boulder/Fort Collins and it's perfect for ringing in 2016. More to come on our love for this quaint town, I'm sure. For now, here are some photos from our Christmas hike.
