A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about a tragedy that happened while I was in Northern Thailand. After a man, Chai, suddenly lost his life in an elephant accident, I asked for financial help for his wife, Fasai, and young children. I write today, forever grateful and amazed by everyone's support.
Together, we raised $1,150.
During our last few days in Thailand, Anthony and I we were able to visit Fasai's village, set back deep into the hills. It was Matthew, her youngest son's, 1st birthday.
While there, we discussed business and made plans for how Fasai would begin. Her plan is to open a shop, right in front of her home, to cater to the hikers as they pass through. Not far from her village is a waterfall and homestay, popular with the tourists.
The building is already there, so we made plans for how and what to stick it with. We talked about building new tables so Fasai could cook and serve meals. We discussed signs and advertisements. We chose a paint color - a minty blue.
Because of YOU this is all possible.
The funds raised are more than enough to get this store off to a great start. Thank you for believing in a cause outside your own world and daily life. Thank you for giving and sharing Fasai's story. Thank you for being a part of a sustainable business for this family - a business that empowers Fasai and allows her to provide for herself and her children in the midst of tragedy.
**All donations will be overseen and handled by Daughters Rising, as the staff there will be helping the business get off the ground. I will continue to post any updates as I receive them.
